About Me

Omotunde "Tunde" Sowole-West

Omotunde “Tunde” Sowole-West is the visionary founder behind Helping Us Grow Sexually (H.U.G.S). A nationally and globally respected Public Health Practitioner, Tunde was born and raised in Oakland, California and has spent the majority of her professional career on the East Coast, while serving communities across the nation, primarily in Washington, DC and the surrounding states.

Known early on as the trusted source for honest and affirming conversations about sexuality, Tunde was affectionately dubbed “The Sexpert” by family and friends long before her professional journey formally began. Today, she brings over 20 years of experience across public health, sexual and reproductive health education, clinical health center leadership, classroom teaching, program design, curriculum development, and professional training.

Tunde is deeply committed to empowering people of all ages and backgrounds with accurate, culturally responsive, and engaging sexual health education.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University and a Master of Public Health from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University.

Tunde is energized by the development, innovation, and scale-up of inclusive sexual health programs that meet people where they are. Her approach to education is relatable, affirming, and rooted in the belief that sexual health is an essential part of overall wellness across the lifespan.

Outside of her professional work, Tunde is happily married to her partner of over a decade, and together they are raising three incredible children who continue to inspire her passion for family-centered, community-driven health education.
