About Me

Omotunde “Tunde” Sowole-West is the brains behind Helping Us Grow Sexually (H.U.G.S.).  Tunde  is a Public Health Practitioner born and raised in Oakland, California, but has spent a majority of her career on the East Coast in the beautiful, Washington, DC.  Tunde has always been the go-to girl for answers to sexuality questions and was coined, "The Sexpert" among her family and friends at an early age. Tunde has over 15 years of experience as a content area specialist, clinical health center director, classroom teacher, program and professional development. Tunde is passionate about empowering all people from various backgrounds about the wonderful world of sexual health. Tunde is the lead author of the Washington, DC’s 2015 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Report which highlighted key health-related behavior data of youth and young adults in DC. Tunde has a Bachelors in Biology from Howard University and a Masters of Public Health from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University. 

Tunde is enthusiastic and interested in the development and scale up of innovative sexual health practices and programs. She enjoys educating others about the importance of sexuality and sex education in a way that is relatable to all! 

Tunde is happily married to her loving partner who she has been with for over a decade and they have three amazing children!
